Tabletop Exercise

Simulated Incident Response Scenario

What is a Tabletop Exercise?

A Tabletop Exercise is a discussion-based simulation used to evaluate an organization’s readiness to respond to a cybersecurity incident. Participants walk through a hypothetical scenario, testing processes, decision-making, and communication.

It is a key component of Incident Response Plan (IRP) validation and organizational preparedness.

What is a Tabletop Exercise used for?

Tabletop exercises are used to identify gaps in Incident Response (IR), improve coordination between teams, and enhance decision-making during crises.

Organizations use them to test Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) effectiveness, ensuring alignment with metrics such as Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO).
