Asset Inventory

Visibility Into Organizational Assets

What is an Asset Inventory?

An Asset Inventory is a comprehensive record of all hardware, software, systems, and data assets within an organization. It provides visibility into what exists in the environment and where it resides.

Asset inventory is foundational to security practices such as Attack Surface management, Vulnerability management, and Cyber Asset Attack Surface Management (CAASM).

What is an Asset Inventory used for?

Asset inventory is used to identify and manage Critical Business Assets (CBA), track ownership, and ensure proper security controls are applied. Without it, organizations cannot effectively manage risk or respond to threats.

It supports processes such as Patch Management, Risk Assessment, and Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM), enabling organizations to maintain an accurate understanding of their environment.
